Before get into 1.7, I gotta tell you about self-publishing.  A few weeks ago during the funeral, I got to talking with one of my cousins about print-on-demand.  Brian had a children's book he was working on (as do I, when I feel like it;) and I told him about lulu.com.  Long story short, a few short weeks later he sent me a link to the finished product.  I've ordered my copy, but I haven't got it yet, so I can't speak to what level of awesome this kid's book actually reaches ... but if you have a youngin' who needs some readin', or if you just want to support the creative works of others, go buy a copy of Juliana Banana by Brian White.

1.7 of Peter & the Dark Wolf is after the break!

Peter & the Dark Wolf
Chapter 1
-7-

"So, you wanna do it?" she asked in a flat, expressionless tone. "Do you wanna fuck on the Ferris wheel?"

God, yes. More than anything else in all of existence. The way she asked--so indifferent, so uncaring--she didn't want to have sex with me on the Ferris wheel, she simply wanted to have sex. I knew in an instant that this woman would be the death of me. And I was perfectly fine with that. Bring on the guillotine and chop my head off--I won't mind a single bit as long as it was this dark beauty who dropped the blade.

Without realizing it until too late, I had made the decision to pursue this woman. The fact that I had a mere three days left among the surface-dwellers didn't seem to matter. The fact that even now I was on a date with my girlfriend-of-the-week was inconsequential. The fact that every single one of my instincts were railing against this dark companion of mine, seemed only to strengthen my desire for her.

My instincts, you see, have never suggested that a woman would be bad for me. Never.

This dark companion of mine was different. Very different.

It was for these reasons that I had to have her. For too much of my life I've been inundated with with the ordinary and the mundane when the very essence of my being craved anything but. In time, however, I had learned just how pointless and unattainable this desire was ... so I taught myself to be like other surface-dwellers and find what satisfaction I could in the average. When you give up on your true desires and settle, you can become quite adept at playing the surface-dwellers' games.

I'd like to think that I'm a pro at it.

Which is not to say that the shallow, average rewards of the surface-dwellers game of love (or is it just sex?) is any substitute for my honest and deepest desires.

But it is something.

And that's good enough for the time being.

When I say that I'm adept at their games, I mean to say that when the urge strikes (that urge being the overwhelming desire to fuck someone until my body goes numb from the effort) I have no problems procuring a female partner to unleash this urge upon.

Let me be clear on something here. This urge I refer to does not speak to my most honest and deepest desires--it really is just about the sex when the urge strikes. My desire to find someone of ... equality, shall we say? This urge was something that had been given up on not so long ago.

But now, with the arrival of this dark companion, a hope that had been stagnating for yeas seemed to glimmer just a little.
